It sought her out at eleven, again at twenty‑two and then, at thirty-three, as a mother of two young boys, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Connie had become one of Australia’s best-known cancer advocates and in September 2017, was presented with the Medal of the Order of Australia. A day later, the woman who taught us all that now is awesome, took her last breath.
